Canary Database - "...contains studies in the biomedical literature that explore the use of wildlife, domestic, and companion animals as "sentinels" for the effects of chemical, biological, and physical hazards in the environment that may be a risk to human health."

Combined Health Information Database - NIH, CDC and the Health Resources and Services Administration have combined their efforts to come up with a searchable bibliographic database on various health related topics, many documents are available free through the government.

CINAHL & Pre-CINAHL - The Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature covers over 1,200 professional journals in nursing, allied health disciplines, and health sciences librarianship, with coverage back to 1982. CINAHL offers access to healthcare books and book chapters, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software in nursing, and audiovisuals. It contains complete coverage of English-language nursing publications from the National League for Nursing and the American Nurses' Association. Has CINAHL-specific headings and the CINAHL Thesaurus which is highly recommended for accurate and targeted search results.

Clinical Pharmacology/Health Source - Provides access up-to-date, concise and clinically-relevant drug monographs for all U.S. prescription drugs, hard-to-find herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new and investigational drugs.

Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR) - A database of abstracts of reviews of evidence-based medicine, delivering "...high quality information to people providing and receiving care and those responsible for research, teaching, funding and administration at all levels." We provide abstracts only.

HealthSource: Nursing/Academic Edition - Provides nearly 600 scholarly full-text journals focusing on many medical disciplines and abstracts & indexing for nearly 850 journals.

Healthfinder - A gateway consumer health information web site from the department of Health and Human Services.

LexisNexis Academic - Covers medicine somewhat. It is searchable by source and by key word.

MEDLINE (PubMed) - This site allows you to search the database MEDLINE for free. It also allows you to search other National Library of Medicine databases, such as HealthSTAR, AIDSLINE, and AIDSDRUGS. Links to some full-text articles.

ProQuest Nursing Journals - A database of 250+ full-text journals in nursing & allied health. It "offers...information from leading nursing and related publications, this database is designed to meet the needs of researchers at health-care facilities as well as students enrolled in nursing programs at academic institutions." Almost an entirely full-text database.

PsycARTICLES - Full-text searching of articles from APA journals and selected EPF (Educational Publishing Foundation) journals— most from 1988 to the present. See the Coverage List for a complete list of journals and start dates. The articles are provided in HTML format for direct viewing and printing with your web browser.

PsycINFO - An essential tool for accessing academic, research and practice literature in psychology from over 45 countries in more than 30 languages. PsycINFO includes relevant materials from related disciplines such as medicine, psychiatry, education, social work, law, criminology, social science, and organizational behavior. It indexes journals, dissertations, book chapters, books, technical reports, and other documents from 1887.

Science Direct - This is also a full-text database with full-text coverage of recent information in primarily the sciences with limited coverage of social science titles. It is searchable by individual journal title or by subject.

Science.KOMM - The objective of this site is to provide access to more than 4,000 links to bioscience and medical journals. You might find its structure for searching recommendations helpful.

for scientific information only - A comprehensive search engine devoted to science and by Elsevier Science. Good for finding peer-reviewed articles. Easy to use.

SEPCHE-BOOKS-This is the collection 350 electronic books--primarily in business, education, history, and nursing/health that Immaculata University purchased in cooperation with other SEPCHE libraries. several thousand electronic book titles from netLibrary. These searchable fulltext books are all available to Immaculata University students, staff and faculty are accessible 24 hours a day and 365 days a year from any web browser. You can create you account from on campus only.
